These are favorite poets of mine. I started reading Ghalib in my 3d year (around 5 year ago) and since then I am a big fan of this 19th century shayar. He is one of the greatest shayar of all time. His ability to connect two contradictory thoughts always amazes me.... consider this, one of his famous sher, for example:
or this one, which is not so famous:
This is the beauty of Ghalib's poetry that concepts are very simple and acceptable and yet never been thought together. So as soon as you read the sher, if you have fair knowledge of urdu, reaction would be "Wow!!! Thats simply great".
Gulzar, a real genius. Narrating a story, directing movies, poetry, songs, it seems he knows it all. I love his way of expressing feelings throug objects as a poet. Read this stanza from a film "घरौंदा"
His poetry always draws a crystal clear picture in front of you. Have a look at this beautiful song, sketching a morning scence, from film "दो दूनी चार"
Fill your heart and soul with the beauty of these poetries...
